We are pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Brown’s Science of the Art of Coaching can now be accessed across the globe as an online (distance learning) programme.

The SAC online has been designed as a two-part programme and suitable for virtual corporate teams or affiliated coaching professionals including:

  • Internal / Executive Coaches
  • Line Managers,
  • Learning & Development Professionals,
  • Talent or HR Leaders,
  • Business Leaders

The two-part format as described below is currently being delivered to a global community of Senior Coaches.

The structure and content of the SAC online can, however, be tailored to suit a specific organisation’s or team’s requirements.

PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATIONS  |  GETTING TO KNOW THE BRAIN AS THE BASIS OF BRAIN-BASED COACHING

This programme focuses on how the brain works and understanding the implications of that, for coaching and leadership.

  • Five x 90-minute knowledge-loaded webinar sessions
  • Equips participants to begin to feel literate in understanding how the brain works and what the implications of that are in a coaching context for individual development, leadership, and organisational behaviour in general, and may inspire them to extend their knowledge in a variety of ways
  • This  doesn’t equip participants to claim expertise in practice as a Coach whose professional working knowledge includes a brain-based perspective

What you will learn:

  • To gain a working understanding of the brain and how it controls behaviour through the regulation and integration of its cognitive and emotional mechanisms
  • To develop an appreciation of what this knowledge means in an executive coaching context for individual and leadership development, and for organisational behaviour in general

These outcomes will be achieved through acquiring knowledge of:

  • The brain and how (we think) it works
  • The mind and how it (probably) works
  • Emotion as the mainspring of all action
  • Self-regulation
  • Tuning the client’s brain to the coach’s brain
  • Understanding that human beings are primarily energy systems to which individual psychology is secondary

Webinar Structure:

Each of the five sessions will involve an hour’s teaching followed by a half-hour  of application example and discussion

EXTENSION PROGRAMME  |  PRE-REQUISITE PROFESSIONAL FOUNDATIONS

This programme deepens the knowledge acquired in Professional Foundations, with a focus on professional practice and experiential learning.

  • Fourteen by 2-hour webinars offered in two 7-week blocks
  • The aim is to deepen the knowledge acquired in the Professional Foundations 5-week course and focuses it on case material and professional practice.  It incorporates both ‘knowledge’ and (so far as online technology allows) ‘experiential’ learning

Learning Objectives

  • To deepen the knowledge acquired in the foundational course
  • To learn how to apply such knowledge to the development of each participant’s professional repertoire

These outcomes will be achieved through:

  • A simple introduction to the neurobiology and neurochemistry of behaviour
  • The origins and development of the Self as the central integrator
  • Attachment theory and its application in a coaching context
  • Life patterning
  • Pursuing a biographical enquiry and the HASIE model as a structured means of enquiry
  • Dealing with stress and personal distress – the larger boundaries of a Coach’s professional responsibilities to the individual
  • Using knowledge about the brain within the framework of Neurobehavioural Modelling (NBM)

All sessions are supported by relevant research and resource materials for further individual study. The visual material of all sessions will be available to participants immediately following each session.
